The "Tongue" Drum originated during the Aztec period and was known as "Teponaztli", although many primitive cultures had their own version of wooden drums.
Each drum is completely unique, as no two drums look or sound alike. Because timber varies in density, the drums produce a wide range of sounds from each "tongue".
The drums below are made of combinations of jarrah, marri and birch. Prices range from $175 to $250 depending on the size and complexity of the design. Custom drums can also be made. |
